Angry Birds Uncovered (Free)
If you are still trying to get 3 stars in every level of Angry Birds, or trying to beat the last pigs bunch, this app will save your thumbs.Angry Birds Uncovered is a simple app that will show you videos of how to get the maximum score in the top mobile game of the year. A menu allows you to select episode, world and level and then displays the helping video that will show you the right way to get the precious 3 stars. The app is free, but a lot of the screen real estate is used for ads, maybe too much. Anyways, the app is useful, unless you want to search for online walkthroughs and you tube videos – which is not easy on the phone.

Go get those last achievement points on Angry Birds using the Uncovered option -

Note that there are 2 versions on the marketplace, the free one – reviewed here – and a paid version that for $ 1.49 will give you no ads, full screen videos and written walkthroughs. Unfortunately the paid version does not have a free trial…

Angry Birds ($ 2.99, Trial)
At last, after a series of (good) clones including Pandas vs. Ninjas and Chicks’n’Vixens, the original Angry Birds comes to close the Must Have Windows Phone 7 Games for this summer.

Windows Phone 7 is a complete platform, now that Angry Birds is available for it.

The king of the casual games is a symbol for the Windows Phone 7 and its App Marketplace to have reached the first stage of maturity. After the good news about the Mango features that analysts predict will make WP7 a contender to iOS and Android, now the WP7 marketplace has the games that people want to play, and the number one is still Angry Birds.

If you have lived on another planet for a year and a half or so, Angry Birds is a physics game where you sling birds with your finger trying to take down green pigs who stole the birds’ eggs.
Yeah.

The game is fun, of course, and challenging: there are multiple types of birds that work best with the different materials the pigs use to build their defense fortress. Black birds explode and work well with stone; blue birds multiply in the air and work well with glass, yellow birds work well with wood and so on..

As you progress through the levels your skills are tested: aim and release the sling correctly, use the right bird for the right job and crumble the card castle that the pigs build to defend themselves.

There is a lot of gameplay here, so the $ 2.99 price tag is not out of this world, even if the game costs less on other platforms.

Right after the initial introductory levels, the things get serious quickly: passing a level becomes a precision and tactics challenge (well, sometimes it’s just luck). If you are then going for all the achievements and try to get 3 stars in all stages, things become really hard – it will likely take tens of hours to get all the 3 stars achievements.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)

Yes, Angry Birds celebrity is overwhelming and excessive, but the game is fun, trying and the value is definitely there. Graphics are hilarious and sounds exhilarating.

If you played it on other platforms you might want to replay and go for the Xbox Live Achievements and the friends leaderboard – show your friends how good you are at throwing birds!

Plants Vs. Zombies ($ 4.99, Trial)
Plants Vs Zombies ™ for Windows Phone 7 (click to open with Zune)One of the most anticipated games of the Must Have Xbox Live Games on Windows Phone 7 is Plants Versus Zombies and is finally here. Get ready to fight hordes of funny zombies attacking your green WP7 lawn and fight back with peas, cherries and potatoes!
PvZ is just a fantastic game: part strategy, part tower defense, and most of all F-U-N.

Zombies are attacking your house! You defend your turf planting vegetables that can throw pea-bullets to the zombies taking them down as they advance on your lawn. You gather resources in terms of solar energy that either drops from the sky or is generated by sunflowers, then you can spend it to acquire more plants.

Different types of zombies and plants give a great variety to the game: attackers range from the plain undead to the pole vault jumper to the Michael Jackson zombie. A total of 26 types of zombies with different characteristics will attack and require adjustments in your defense tactics. Defenders range from peashooters to cherry bombs to potato mines. Use 49 perennial types to defend your doorstep: select the right tactic in every wave or zombies will soon knock on your door!

The game is frenetic, at the beginning of the levels, you barely have the time to collect the sun rays that you have to spend them immediately; then in the middle of the level unfolding you need to save resources for the grand finale: a huge wave of zombies approaches at the end of each level: you better get ready!

Everything is made with great humor and style: the art has an awesome ironic aura, the zombie animations, movements and explosions are simply hilarious. Even achievements and leaderboards have the ironic style of the game. PvZ has become so iconic that Pop Cap has received 41 offers for a movie made with its style.

The experience is completed by different game modes and mini games: Adventure is the main story and when you are done, 20 mini-games, puzzle mode and Zen Garden mode open up to give you even more fun time. PvZ is definitely one of the WP7 Xbox Live Games that provide the best value for your money, and we think that at $ 4.99 is a great price – you will get tons of fun gameplay for 5 bucks.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)
PvZ is available on every system on the planet (Xbox, PS, DS, iOS, Android, PC and Mac) and is finally available for our enjoyment on your WP7 phone of choice – well, make good use of it and enjoy every minute!

Evernote for Windows Phone 7: the best notes app is here /2011/06/evernote-for-windows-phone-7-the-best-notes-app-is-here.html /2011/06/evernote-for-windows-phone-7-the-best-notes-app-is-here.html#comments Tue, 21 Jun 2011 05:27:06 +0000 bestwp7apps /?p=1929 Evernote is one of the top notes app out there, allows you to store text, photo and audio for your notes and share it between your phone (Windows Phone, Android, iPhone), PC, slate and the web...]]>
Evernote (Free)
Evernote is one of the top notes app out there, allows you to store text, photo and audio for your notes and share it between your phone (Windows Phone, Android, iPhone), PC, slate and the web.
Best thing is that sharing and synchronization works great. You write a note, save it, open it on the web after a few seconds and there it is: the magic of the cloud. Of course editing works two ways: you can edit your note anywhere, Evernote keeps it in synch across devices

Evernote will help you find your notes fast, it will index what you type and tag, of course, but it will also  do text recognition on the pictures and your handwritten notes.

You can tag the notes with geo-location, but we have not found this option in the Windows Phone version, maybe this will come in an upgrade with the Mango release that will allow app access to the compass and location later this year.

Your Windows Phone already comes equipped with One Note, which  has similar features. The notes need to be synched manually on OneNote, though – or a conflict arise requiring a PC for resolution. Evernote seems superior here. To balance, OneNote has the ability to pin Notes to the start screen that Evernote is missing, at least for now.

Another drawback is the missing formatting option that OneNote has and editing a note requires an additional tap that is less intuitive.

The Evernote service is free with a basic allowance of 60 MB of notes per month. If you want more you can get up to the Premium service, with a 1 GB/Month allowance and the possibility to add any file (including Word and Excel) to your notes as well as collaborate with other users. Premium is $ 5/month or $ 45/year, which is not too much if you use the service.

Technically the app is well integrated with Metro, but there are some technical issues reported: the 1.0 version of the app shows a blank screen at the beginning not telling the user that is synching with the server. This blank screen gave some bad reviews to the app, and it can be sending users off – be aware: to fix the issue just connect to a Wi-Fi connection and be patient for a few seconds until the first synch completes, you won’t regret it.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.1.0.0)
Evernote is one of the top note taking apps on WP7, feature wise is close to Office OneNote, but the faster synch works better here. Try and compare it with OneNote yourself and let us know what you think.

geoDefense ($ 2.99, Trial)
The Windows Phone 7 Must Have series of Xbox Live Games continues this week with geoDefense. This is a tower defense game, as the title suggests, and possibly the best so far on WP7. We already reviewed two great tower defense games: Next War and Big Guns. geoDefense is the perfect balance between the two: fast but not too short; intelligent but not boring; requiring the right time and effort to beat its levels.
The game offers 28 levels: 10 easy, 14 medium and 14 hard. The goal is to kill all the creeps with your towers before they get to your base and take a life away from you – once all the lives are lost, game over!

There are five tower types: Blaster (your typical cannon tower), Laser (goes through enemies, good to blast creeps in a row), Missile (area bomb), Shock (slows down creeps) and Vortex (builds up a large attack from dead creeps). Each tower can be upgraded up to seven times to get to their maximum power.

There is a lot of game to play here, enemies come in different variations and the levels are designed with a specific strategy in mind. You have to apply the right strategy to the variation of enemies and the level layout or you will soon lose the game and have to start over.

Remember: you will be challenged and fail. Multiple times. But then you will find the right strategy to beat the level and you will be gratified!!

Besides staying alive, there is a score mechanism. The score is in points, depending on which type of creep you kill; but there is a catch – the score has a multiplier that increases every time you take down a creep, based on where it was on the level: the closer the creeps explode to your base, the more the multiplier increases.

For example: making a creep explode at the beginning of the track is worth only a x1 multiplier increase, the final stretch is worth x5, the zone close to your base x10 and a creep exploding by hitting your base is worth x20 (and you lose a life)!

To build up score you will have to use dangerous strategies, building your defenses to the end of the track rather than the usual beginning of the other tower defense games!

The great vectors-based graphic style and explosions reminds Geometry Wars. Sound is passable, lacking a little pace and rhythm, but ok.

As every Xbox Live game on Windows Phone 7 there are Achievements and Leaderboards (friends only leaderboard though).

The only defect we found is that it’s hard to place the laser towers exactly where you want to, at least until you learn well the placement mechanism, which comes after playing a few games.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)
geoDefense has already been a hit on iOS and now is getting ready to do the same on WP7: this is the best tower defense game on the platform, try it with the free trial option and you will agree with us.

Doodle Jump ($ 2.99, Trial)
Doodle Jump has been our (and our kids) favorite pastime on iPhone for a long time. Now that our platform of choice is WP7 we are excited to see how the doodly jumpy being fares under the Xbox Live banner.

Ok, let’s try it.

Jump, jump, crack, jump. booooiiiinngggg, jump…

Jump, jump, sproooooiiinnnggg, jump, sproooooiiinnnggg, …

Jump, jump, jump, crack, pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.

Game over.
Shoot! Gotta try again.

Jump, jump, jump…

…1 hour later…

Jump, jump, jump…

Jump, jump, jump (coudlhavebeenwrong, coudlhavebeenwrong), zip, zip, jump (coudlhavebeenwrong,) zip, zip, zip …

Jump, jump, jump…

Ok: the game is awesome. 5 stars. Get it. Now!

Yeah. Doodle Jump is that good.

It’s a simple game: tilt your phone to control the Doodler jumping on platform. Get as high as you can: miss one platform and you are dead doodle meat. Start over.

During your ascension, you will find platforms that break, disappear, move. Also weird alien beings (not that the Doodler is NOT already a weird being, huh) will be in your way, you can shoot them (tap on the screen) or jump on their head.

Simple but killer: gotta get higher. This is the Doodley Jumper secret, as you might already have experienced with Birdy Bounce on WP7.

As you climb you can see your previous heights as well as those of your friends to top. That is another element that will make you try again.

The level graphic theme can change: not all the iPhone/Android themes are available (we loved the Soccer theme on iPhone) but here there are more than enough for some variance: Plain, Snow, Night Ghosts, Jungle, Space.

There are some small differences from the legendary iPhone version, but minor ones: the doodler and the platforms appear smaller here; is it because the Samsung Focus screen is larger than our iPhone 3GS? Also the game seems to be somewhat easier. There are less enemies around, at least at the beginning.

Being an Xbox Live game, there are achievements and leaderboards. For some reason leaderboards are local or friends only, there is no global one (weird) and achievements seem to be hard (jump on 30 monsters in a game, really? On our best game so far we saw at most 10 monsters….)

Be warned: insanely addictive, this is the line on the iPhone marketplace. Well Doodle Jump is insanely addictive – just try it with the free trial and you will know.

This game is so popular that has even a community web site with suggestion on best hands and body positions for a higher score! (http://www.doodlejump.com/)

The simple concept and pure gameplay is so powerful that Doodle Jump is not only present on most phones today, but is also working on the big jump on the TV with Kinect: http://123kinect.com/doodle-jump-for-kinect/

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)

Doodle Jump is so powerful that started a series of games called Doodle something on every phone platform available today – there are currently 22 apps called *Doodle* on the Windows Phone 7 App Marketplace. Yeah 3 bucks are 3 bucks, but missing the best game out there is lame. Get it.

gMaps: navigate Google maps on WP7 /2011/05/gmaps-navigate-google-maps-on-wp7.html /2011/05/gmaps-navigate-google-maps-on-wp7.html#comments Sat, 28 May 2011 04:26:49 +0000 bestwp7apps /?p=1747 GMaps is one of the top map apps on Windows Phone 7, with a very clean and responsive interface, good navigation and search capabilities, it has reached the top of the charts in just a month (number 10 as we write).]]>
gMaps (Free)
GMaps is one of the top map apps on Windows Phone 7, with a very clean and responsive interface, good navigation and search capabilities, it has reached the top of the charts in just a month (number 10 as we write).

The feature set is impressive: GPS tracking with over the top Map Navigation, Traffic and Public Transit overlay, roads, terrain and satellite views, gMaps has it all, and more.

You can start from your position, search for your destination and then decide whether to go there by car, foot, public transportation or Segway (!). The maps are very clean and detailed with indication of parks, schools, shopping centers and so on. Maps updates are also quick and allow easy navigation while you driving, but remind that this is not a turn by turn navigation app, so you have to understand where to turn next looking at the map from top.

Search results are ok but not great. The feedback on the app marketplace is mixed some users report better search results here others on Bing. Personally we found Bing superior. Entering the name of a school nearby Redmond, WA; gMaps returned a school in Scranton, PA (!). Also Bing auto complete is a great help as it return things before we even finish typing.

Extra features like “Where is here”, which gives you the address of your location are a nice touch, but we wished there was a favorite places feature (or a go home type of thing).

Overall gMaps is a clean and fast app that rivals the default Maps app that comes with Windows Phone 7; we think that the research of a place is still better on the Bing maps, but this might be subjective. gMaps is free and should not be missed in your collection – tap it with confidence, it has the BestWP7Apps seal of approval!

Youtube is one of the top internet sites, and by far the top for video-watching. Anybody with a Windows Phone knows how inadequate the bundled Youtube app is – all it does is launch you back to a browser to view plain-jane Youtube web pages until you finally pick your video and launch it full screen back in the app.
To the rescue is another app of the same name: Youtube, by Lazyworm. Lazyworm’s app, also free lets you navigate in our favourite metro app interface and gives you far more control.

Whereas the original app only lets you jump backwards and forwards in 30 second increments, this one lets you drag your cursor to any part of the video. You can Like or Dislike a video inline, get links to related videos, toggle between High Quality and Normal Quality. You can even do all this while playing the video, as in portrait mode it only plays inside an inline-window. As soon as you turn the phone, voila’: full screen is served. While navigating, you can also search for videos, see the most viewed, and see your subscribed and favourite videos.

We’d call this an app a must-have, but by no means is it perfect. For some reason, the Comment button is present but greyed out so maybe that’s future-promised functionality. There’s also something called a “lazylist” which seems to be lazyworm’s own subscriptions – it’s not terribly useful but does include an overview of the app itself.

There appear to be more features than just what we’ve covered and the developer seems to be diligent in posting updates so we’ll leave the rest to the reader to discover.

There is also a version for sale, called LazyTube that supports HD Video streaming and sells for $0.99.

Verdict (version reviewed: 2.3.0.0)
Bottom line: if you watch Youtube videos on your WP7 phone or you simply want to (if it were not for the default experience), Lazyworm just made the perfect app for you, get it now.

PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition DX ($ 6.99, Trial)

The King of video-games lands again on your Windows Phone 7. After appearing at launch with Pac-Man, the yellow dot-eating machine that symbolized the video games era in the eighties is back. Boring? Well, you have never heard of Pac-Man Championship Edition then!
CE is a new variation on the old classic puck-man clearing its way through the maze eating dots and avoiding ghosts; now the chase is infinite: the munching is no longer finalized in clearing the screen, but to harvest points… in style!

DX is the second version of Pac-Man Championship Edition. This variation has amazed the reviewers on the Xbox 360 Arcade version (IGN.com gave a perfect score of 10 out of 10 in their review) and is now available on Windows Phone 7 as the first mobile version (iPhone has the first CE edition). DX offers 3 different courses with 5 game modes for a total of 40 variations. Game modes include Score Attack (do as many points as possible in a limited time) Ghost Combo (how many ghosts in a row can you eat) and Time Trial (clear the maze as fast as possible).

The controls are what you would expect this time, and work soooo much better than the first Pac Man WP7 appearance: swipe in the direction you want to move your yellow dot friend, he will go there.

Gameplay is simply top notch. As usual, you have to clear the appearing dots in sequence; once you clear a part of the maze from dots and fruit, new ghosts and pellets appear on the other side.

Ghosts are sleeping, if you get close they get angry and follow you. Line up a bunch of ghosts, eat the Power Pellet, turn around and eat lots of them in sequence with bangs, roars and flashes (satisfying!). If the ghosts get too close, the time slows down in a Max Payne-like effect, giving you time to react and avoid being killed by them; also now you have a bomb: pinch to deploy it.

Not everything is gold pleated in this game, though. The menu system is possibly the worst we have seen in a mobile game of this level.

Example of annoying menu 1: Start the game, the tutorial is available. Select the tutorial, do the tutorial. Game question: continue tutorial? Err…dunno…Yes? Tutorial restarts! (Darn, could they ask if we wanted to restart it rather than continue? )

Example of annoying menu 2: visuals selection: select Type A, B or C. Wait a minute: WHAT? A, B or C? Could they give them, like, a NAME?

Ok, so the menu is bad, but the game is great, and of course this is an Xbox Live game, so you can welcome Achievements (cheevos!) and Leaderboards. The question remains though: is this worth 7 dollars? The price tag is high for a mobile game, even if not out of this world, AAA games on iPhone and Android also touch similar price levels (Pac-Man CE is 5 bucks on the App Store as we write); well our answer is yes, it’s worth the price.
And you can easily find out if you agree with us by downloading the free trial version – it’s free!
Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)

Pac Man CE DX gameplay is just gorgeous: challenging, fulfilling and never-ending – you have what you are looking for here: hours and hours of great gameplay on your Windows Phone 7.

Chain Reaction (Free)
Chain Reaction is a clever, fun and enticing game. The success of public (20th top app as we write) and of reviews (4.5 stars average) are a testimony of this. The idea is simple: there are a bunch of colored balls flying around your screen; if you tap on any part of it, you will create a bubble; any ball that touches the bubble will become a bubble itself, thus creating a chain reaction; bubbles go away after a while. The goal is to burst the target number of balls in the level before your chain reaction terminates.
There are 4 modes in the game: Classic with 12 Levels, Extended with 20, Epic with 30 and Insane with 40. Once you beat all the levels in the mode you can post your score in the online scoreboard (you make more points the longer the chain you make).

Let us tell you there are some crazy scores in the level, how the heck did those guys manage to get such a high score? (we need to try harder!)

The game is much harder than you might think, at the intermediate levels, making sure that 7 out of 75 balls explode before the reaction dies out is a darn complicated task.

It is also not very apparent which strategy is the best to use: should you try to get the slow balls to start with? Tap on an empty area or a filled one? Tap at the center, around it or in the corners?

Damn! We missed it for just one ball once again!

Balls move at a different speed – color should indicate the speed, but we are not sure we can recognize them in the middle of another hundred of those flying all over the place.

On the improvements area, the presentation menu and game graphic are quite basics and could get a general better sense of design. Sounds are also lacking – only sound effect is a little monotone and get old easily (but you can get your music on and play for hours…)

Lynx Interactive created a game that is quite innovative as well as intriguing and fun. It’s another free game that should not be missed on your Windows Phone 7 collection.

The OpenTable app is a must-have for any foodie on the go. For those unfamiliar with Opentable, this is a service used by more than 20,000 restaurants around the world for easy online booking. On top of that, it offers rewards points for bookings.
On the Windows phone, no matter where you are, you can look up available places for dining nearby and search a restaurant according to your liking. Walgreens and Yellow Pages are the latest two big names that recently launched their clients for the WP7 platform. Just released last week, the two apps are a sign that the audience for the Tile-centered Phone OS is growing in mainstream interest.

Like Amazon and The Home Depot before, YP and Walgreens’ are also an example of how the standard Metro UI helps building an intuitive experience for users that can familiarize themselves with the basic controls and reuse the knowledge across multiple apps.

YP is the client for the familiar service, and has an interesting twist: consider this app as a mix of regular Yellow Pages search by business name, Yelp’s search by category with reviews and Groupon list of deals around you. The value of this app is in combining all these services.

Walgreens is more the regular app from the pharmacy chain that you would expect: find a store, what’s in the store, order pictures prints. Interesting twist here? The Refill by Scan option, which allows you to take a picture of the barcode on the drug box and order a refill.

Both apps mix Metro panels with the use of mobile web pages rendered by IE inside the app (Walgreens uses it more than YP). But overall this is not very apparent or really annoying.

Both apps are free on the Windows Phone 7 App Marketplace, and we believe they are worth your taps. Check them out.

Walgreens (Free)
Walgreens allows access to classic and new pharmacy features like refill by scan.

YP Yellow Pages (Free)
A mix of yellow pages, Yelp and Groupon, worth your taps.

As Angry Bids release date on WP7 gets closer and closer – it’s planned for May 25th - the space for clones of the flying Birds taking on Pigs game is narrowing down. Following the success of the great Chicks’n’Vixens, XIMAD brings to WP7 this new variant based on Pandas and Ninjas.
The authors of Bubble Birds and 30 more Windows Phone 7 apps, give us a very nice version of the “pull your finger to throw something at a castle of enemies to take them all down” theme. In this case, the variation offers a big Panda throwing little pandas to a pile of puffed size mini-Ninjas. Already available on Android, this app is now quickly climbing the WP7 charts. The art is really good, classy in style and with nice characters and good animations. Icing on the cake are descriptive tutorial images that we would like to see more on WP7 games. The sound effects are good individually taken, but put together might be a little confusing: the voice of the pandas and the ninjas are too much alike, it’s hard to understand who emits which sound during the game.
Pandas vs. Ninjas offers more than 100 stages spread on 5 scenarios: there is a lot of gameplay here. Playing the first few levels, the puzzles seem good, but not as enticing as the original, there is less sense of progression here.We also found a couple of minor bugs here and there (the stage would not clear even if all the ninjas were down) but nothing that could not be solved closing and reopening the app or going back to the main menu to get to the next stage manually.

Overall Pandas vs. Ninjas is a very good production – the folks at XIMAD have topped their quality bar [good job guys]. The gameplay is fun and it will get your slinging finger warm until the original hits the WP7 electronic shelves later this month.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)
Pandas Vs. Ninjas is available in a free version with non-intrusive ads and in a premium commercial-free version for $ 0.99. We definitely suggest you to throw it at your WP7, it will be a smash.

Ganlok Studio brings us some great games for kids and toddlers: Simon Cow and Mazoocard for WP7.These games are incredibly beautiful. The graphics have an amazing style: polished and attractive to little ones as well as adults; the sounds are good and the gameplay is basic but enticing for kids.Simon Cow is the classic Simon says, you repeat memory game: animals make their sounds in a sequence and the toddler needs to repeat and match the sequence. You can chose to use colors instead of animals, but the idea is the same. You can go from 3 to 8 elements to create the sequence, so this game can be played by 2 years old as well as second graders. Simon Cow is available for free with in game ads – not sure if kids will click on the ads, though.Mazoocard is a simple card memory game: pick the number of cards (6 to 48) and match them, turning two at a time, when you match the cards you can remove them. Continue until no cards are left.

The cards can have animals, numbers, letters or colors. You can play alone or in local multiplayer (full game only). Mazoocard has a free version as well as a $ 0.99 version.

Simon Cow and Mazoocard are amazing productions, the graphic is fantastic, the style extremely curated; we wish all WP7 games were made with such a dedication – great job!

Check out the videos below to get an idea of the quality of these games.

Simon Cow (Free)
Great Simon Says game, for toddlers and kids of all ages

Mazoocard (Free, $ 0.99)
Mazoocard is a memory card game, suited for young kids, but the multiplayer support makes it fun for everyone.

Groupon (Free)
Groupon is joining the Windows Phone 7 world. With this fresh new fancy app you can get the deal of the moment while on the go with your WP7 – discount on!The app will work very much like groupon.com: check out the deal of the day or the others available in your area.
Deals are pretty substantial: 50% off for a haircut or for a chocolate box; 60% off a day at the gym or 50% off carpet cleaning. The catch with Groupon is that you have to buy the deal upfront. At the same time, the discounts are pretty sweet and tempting: if you can check it often, you will find a deal on something you were interested and this makes it worth.

The app UI is well integrated with Metro but is a little sluggish and sometimes will catch a swipe for a hit making navigation a little hard.

You have most of the web site features available in this mobile version: the handy Discussion is available, showing you what questions other users had on the deal. Unfortunately you cannot ask questions via the phone, only read other people ones.

The location of the deal is shown on Bing maps – handy! – but there are no directions (I guess we will have to wait Mango for this one). Another limitation is the social like on Facebook is not available on the phone, as well as FB sign-in.You can access your groupons straight from the phone, though, so you can drive to the place and get the deal right away without printing. Other independent Groupon WP7 apps (Groupon Live and Groupon Express) do not have this feature and this is an important plus.

Overall this app is ok, a few improvements here and there will make it a great one – but what matters are the deals and Groupon have some scorching hot ones – go tap them now.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.0.0.0)
Groupon for Windows Phone will help you find some great deals in your area; technically the app can use some improvements, but the base functionality is there, so give it a tap.

TuneIn Radio (Free)
Get ready for Radio experience version 2. TuneIn Radio is a global radio service available also at TuneIn.com that allows you to access thousands of radio stations worldwide.
Access local radio and remote stations wherever you are and with a modern user interface. TuneIn does a great job in integrating the Radio, the Internet and Social Networks to bring you the next level radio surfing.
Do not think classic AM/FM tuner with a dialer and 5 digits, but list of radio stations with their names together with the genre played and what song is on the air at the moment. Wow, this is how it should be, doh!
You can see a list of local stations or go global by type (Music/Talk/Sports) genre (Rock, Country, Top) Location (Country, City) or Language (from Aboriginal to Welsh).
Selecting a radio station allows you to see what is on the air at the moment, the lineup of the day, related stations and the radio Twitter feed if available (DOH and DOH and DOH again!)
TuneIn streams the radio from the internet source available for that radio. And these days most radios are available on the internet.
The Windows Phone 7 version, though, can also use the FM tuner included in your WP7 phone (did you know you have one?) but you will need to have headphones connected because that is the tuner antenna.
What if your headphones are not connected? TuneIn Radio will automatically switch to the streaming version of the radio. Sweet! Design! Thinking about your users – this is an app!
Be aware that this option is turned off by default, but you can easily change the settings and get your tuner going.
Some streams are not available in high quality and, especially if they are local stations, you might want to fallback to the FM tuner that your phone is equipped.TuneIn Radio is so cool that is climbing the WP7 app charts really fast – it is in the top 15 apps now and the average review score is 5 stars. You might think: quite impressive, but after you download and try the app, you will understand: well deserved.

Verdict (version reviewed: 1.1.0.0)
TuneIn Radio takes radio experience to a new level on your Windows Phone – you should really check it out even if you don’t do much radio, you might start right after that!
