Quadra is a fun, addictive shooter game with awesome graphic and sound, and it’s free!
Elbert Perez, the maker of multiple successful free games for WP7, such as Impossible Shoota and Scribble Defense, has created one more little game that is climbing the WP7 App Marketplace: after a few days from release, Quadra is close to the top 100 and received 40 reviews, with a 5 star average!
In Quadra you shoot at waves of colored enemies from the center of the screen, you control the direction of the fire with your finger, if an enemy reaches the center, game over.
But wait, if you get to level two, you get an additional gun and now you swipe 2 fingers on the screen to shoot: enemies start flying from everywhere and it gets super hectic (remember to use the bomb to clear the screen). F-U-N!
The game also has online leaderboard, so you can post your best score (how did the top guys get to 300,000 points?)
The only issues we found with this game is that you must lay the phone flat on a table or on your lap to play and that your fat fingers will sometimes cover the action, lowering the sense of control you have over the game. (Check the video below!)
Finally, the graphic design is top notch, reminding us of Geometry Wars, and the music is addicting – you almost want to play again for the music alone.
This incredible quality game is free, with non-intrusive ads on the home screen, so do not hesitate, tap download on the app marketplace now!
Update:
Version 1.1 got released on Jan 23rd – unfortunately this update has two downsides that impact the overall quality of this game. The ads are now on the main screen; not only they take away real estate but you can tap the ad inadvertently and the game quits, losing your progress! Also now you have 4 guns and can use 4 fingers – but with 4 fingers on the screen you can hardly see anything, the experience is worse than before – at least for our opinion of course.
We are suspending our 5 stars rating for this game for now, hoping the author comes back with the previous version of the game.
To monetize, we would suggest a .99 $ price update the game is (or better was) worth that price.
